My internship journey began with an impactful conversation with Mme Gracious, our Intern Mother. From the very start, she created a warm and welcoming environment by sharing her story, explaining her role and purpose, and inviting me to share my own background. We also prayed for one another, which made the introduction deeply meaningful. It was a beautiful reflection of God’s love and care, setting the tone for the internship ahead.
Shortly afterward, the interns and several staff members travelled to Pretoria for Orientation Week. Meeting one another for the first time was exciting, and one of our first tasks was to plan a menu for the week together. This activity helped us learn more about each other’s personalities and discover how we would work as a team. We shared many memorable moments—cooking together, worshipping together, singing along to worship music, and enjoying plenty of laughter.
Of course, like any group, we experienced some differences and challenges along the way. However, these moments became opportunities for growth. We learned to navigate disagreements with grace, remembering that we are sisters in Christ and co-labourers in His Kingdom. I am grateful for the freedom we had to be ourselves while also learning to appreciate and love one another’s unique qualities.
As our training began, our coaches did an excellent job of grounding us in the values and heart of the ministry. They consistently reminded us that everything we do should be guided by a mindset that aligns with God and His Word. Although we serve the Lord and belong to Him, we are still human and face many of the same fears and struggles. We learned that these challenges are not the problem in themselves; what matters is whom we turn to and what we align ourselves with when facing them.
The second time we gathered was during our trip to Johannesburg and Rustenburg. These two weeks challenged us in the best possible ways, teaching us how to care for one another both emotionally and spiritually as we served together. Through every experience, God continued to shape and strengthen us. Praise Yahweh!
