With Campus Crusade for Christ international we have the privilege to join hands with all the different countries of the world and pray for one another.
Our Worldwide Day of Prayer (WDOP) was birthed when Bill and Vonette Bright, our founder and visionary couple started Campus Crusade for Christ in the USA, in 1950’s.
They both knew the power of prayer and set an amazing example for those who started out as part of the ministry on university campuses. Vonette Bright is still quoted on our website where she encouraged others to have prayer as the center of ministry. Everything that they developed for CCC was birthed from deep prayer and intercession. There is just such a move from the Lord when His people take hands and pray together in unity. Our focus on Jesus Christ and His Word in every part of ministry is of the utmost importance.
Our WDOP’s take place twice a year, every last Tuesday of April and every first Tuesday of October. These two prayer days are observed by all our full-time staff across the Globe and those who are involved in ministry with us. Currently we have representation in 200 different countries. This is such an encouragement to know that our organization covers 24hours of prayers on these two days per year, praise the Lord!
During our WDOP in October 2025, our CCC South African team prayed in our different regions across our country. We had representation in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Freestate, Northwest, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.
In Gauteng province we gathered together at our Head Office in Moreletapark. We had many others who collaborated with us to make our gathering meaningful and impactful.
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! [2] It is like the precious oil [of consecration] poured on the head, Coming down on the beard, Even the beard of Aaron, coming down upon the edge of his [priestly] robes [consecrating the whole body]. [3] It is like the dew of [Mount] Hermon Coming down on the hills of Zion; For there the Lord has commanded the blessing: life forevermore.” – Psalms 133:1-3 AMP
Worship was led by Soekie Krogg (involved in full-time ministry reaching schools in Africa).
Leon Coetzee from International Prayer Frontiers, shared a message encouraging us to pray with strategy and fervency. Our focus countries for that day were, Madagascar, Algeria and South Africa, and sensitive countries in Africa.
We prepared prayer stations for these different areas and rotated in groups to cover these countries’ praise items and prayer requests.
Each station had items that represent the country, something to taste or smell to add to our experience while praying. For example, we had koeksisters for South -Africa, for Algeria we tasted dates and Madagascar we had Vanilla pods to add fragrance. We had tea candles at the Africa station, where each person who prayed could light a candle for one of the countries they prayed for and a map of the world to make it visual for the participants.
Scripture was shared for our prayer stations and in our prayer groups we could also share personal requests with one another and we prayed for one another. These times of prayer is aways such an encouragement and it helps to build our trust in Jesus and builds relationship with staff and disciples.
We praise the Lord for His faithfulness to His Promises to us! He will not forget the prayers that we poured out before Him in His throne room. – Hebrews 4:16
