Model, Assist, Watch, Leave
CT Blitz Celebration

As missionaries with CCC, we learned the training method of Model, Assist, Watch and Leave. That is:

Model – Show the trainee how it’s done, step by step.
Assist – Work alongside the trainee to assist them as they lead
Watch – The trainer is an observer while the trainee does it on their own
Leave – The trainee is now fully independent

Last year in Cape Town we hosted something called a DMPD blitz. What’s that, you ask? A DMPD (Discipleship Ministry Partner Development, previously known as Support-Raising) blitz is a one-week workshop dedicated to helping our missionaries raise more ministry partners and be encouraged by working on it together for five days.

Cape Town was the Assist part of Pravani’s journey, where she worked alongside her coach, Barney. They then presented one for the Gauteng team from 10-14 April 2025. This was the blitz that Gerda attended and felt called to join the team. It was a fruitful time as we saw God provide not only a new team member, but also new ministry partners to many of our missionaries. This means that the network of believers being involved in the work of missions is expanding. Praise God for making it happen!

How does this work though? How do you involve believers in the work of missions?

  • You pray and ask God who to speak to
  • You call and make an appointment
  • At the appointment you tell them about the mission field you’re in and challenge them to: Labour with you in prayer, Network you with other believers, Give generously in finances, and use their Expertise to assist the mission field.
  • Keep the relationship going via visits and newsletters.

During a DMPD Blitz you do all this with a friend/colleague. They sit with you as you make the phone calls, they go on appointments with you and give feedback and encouragement through the whole process. We were never meant to do ministry alone (Luke 10:1) and this focused time was a reminder of it all.

Our team will be hosting these blitzes twice, possibly thrice a year in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban respectively. Thankfully, even though the “Leave” part of the training method means that we will be leading the blitzes without someone holding our hands, we will never do this ministry alone. By God’s grace, we will raise up other coaches and trainees who will encourage our missionaries in the development of their Ministry Partnership teams.

And this is where we thank you. You are part of our teams of ministry partners. The staff of Campus Crusade for Christ can do what they do on the mission field, because of the prayers and generosity of people like you. We share in the work and we share in the harvest of blessings from God as we see His Kingdom expand.
