Global Church Movement
We strive to inspire vision and action in the church and train and equip multiplying leaders, so that they can equip their congregations in evangelism and discipleship. We want to promote strategic partnerships and provide new ideas, tools and strategies to encourage members to grow in their faith and outreach.
In this Month Link we want to focus on the GCM Frame work and we believe this can be of a great information to everyone out there who might not be in the position of understanding GCM goals clearly, I can personally say what I will be sharing is already put to test and we see it working not only in South Africa but also in many other parts of the world were GCM has been launched:
GCM Framework
Global Reality:
- Global population ~ 8.2 B
- ~2.6 billion people self-identify as Christians
- ~5.6 billion people do not identify with Christian faith
Two important questions
- How can we help the 2.6 billion “Christians” to grow in their knowledge of God and be involved in fulfilling the Great Commission?
- How can we effectively engage the 5.6 billion people with Jesus?
Common Global Goal:
By working together in the body of Christ, we help establish a healthy and multiplying church or missional community for every 1,000 people in every city, village, and digital network:
- Size of the church doesn’t matter
- Practicing Acts 2:41-47
- Obeying the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
- Developing and applying contextually relevant models and strategies
- Missional, multiplying, sustainable, and making kingdom impact
- With leaders who are able to teach and guide the church
- Church is neither a building nor location, but a people of God redeemed by the blood of Jesus
Essential Commitment:
GCM embraces various expressions, backgrounds, models, sizes, and shapes of churches and missional communities who share the same commitment with us:
- The Bible and the Lordship of Jesus Christ
- The fulfilment of the Great Commission
- The preaching of the pure Gospel of the kingdom in word and deed
- The priority of the kingdom of God, the One Church, the Bride of Christ
Values:
We value the Word of God and the work of the Holy Spirit:
- Bible as the final authority for our relationship with God, mission and practice
- The high view of the Bible in our discipleship of believers, the priesthood of all believers, the calling of every believer to live as the “salt of the earth and the light of the world”
- Complete dependence on the Person and the power of the Holy Spirit
We value leadership:
- We invest in developing leaders for Global Church Movements as well as the body of Christ
- We move beyond evangelism and initial follow-up of new believers to raising up new leaders and church multipliers from the harvest field
- We believe that both men and women are equally created in God’s image and called and used by God in ministry and leadership
We value the priority of the kingdom of God:
- The kingdom of God is bigger than any organization or denomination
- We intentionally partner with others who share similar vision to build the kingdom
- We support the development and implementation of national alliances and partnerships
- We learn and receive from others humbly, we give generously, and we aim to maximize resources in the body of Christ
We value learning and constant improvement
- of our leadership skills and abilities
- We measure the scope (every), speed (multiplication), and quality (health and impact) of our activities and results
- We constantly evaluate and improve our tools, strategies, platforms, and processes
- We aim to create an environment of learning, growth, and increased fruitfulness
We value every person, believer, and church
- Every person is loved by God and should be given at least one opportunity to know Jesus
- Every believer can pray, go, and give
- Every church can multiply disciples, leaders, and churches
- God fulfils His mission through a local body of Christ: the church
We want to leave you with Questions:
- What motivates you the most from the GCM vision?
- What additional ideas do you have toward added clarity of GCM’s vision?
- How have you seen the values lived out in GCM so far?
- How can we improve in living out our vision and values?
- How can GCM serve you, your ministry or your church?
