At the beginning of this year, I had the opportunity to connect with a widow named Monica for the first time. At the time, she was unemployed. As part of our ministry approach, I always try to connect with widows online or one-on-one before adding them to our WhatsApp community. This is intentional, so we can learn more about their personal relationship with God and discover how they can both receive from and contribute to the growing vision of the Widows Forum.
Monica shared her story with me, and we began to trust the Lord together, not just for provision, but for purpose.
A few weeks ago, Monica called and said she wanted to take me out for lunch. She mentioned that she had some good news to share. We met, and she testified of God’s faithfulness over lunch: she had received a job offer! But there was more. Monica said she also felt led to serve as a widow mentor within the ministry. My heart rejoiced.
This was more than just an answered prayer for a job. It was a picture of restoration, God meeting her need, and then stirring her heart to pour into others. Praise God!
We know that many widows are still praying and trusting God for employment, and we stand with them in faith. Monica’s story is a beautiful reminder that God sees, hears, and answers.
“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”
— Lamentations 3:25 (ESV)
Let us continue to lift up widows around the world who are waiting on God—for jobs, healing, and community. May Monica’s story reminds us all that God is faithful in every season.
