7th National Week of Prayer for Schools
Our Ministry of Prayer primarily serves moms in schools. We encourage moms to pray at their child’s school every week and to build relationships with those there. We have seen phenomenal opportunities for our moms to lead an assembly with a theme and a lesson for the children in the school.
As trust is built, the school invites us to encourage the staff as well. We are called on for prayer in matters that may be overwhelming in the school. Countless beautiful stories show how Father gives us opportunities to show His love to those in this vital sphere of society.
More than that, through the years, there have been so many opportunities to have deep, meaningful conversations with staff as we walk into them in the corridors and pray with them and encourage them or provide some insightful pointers when they share challenges with us. I have many such stories… I will share further down.
We have been in South Africa for more than 35 years now, since Mary-Jean Tempelhof started in 1990.
Back in 2020, which was an incredibly different year for our prayer moms, who were not allowed on the school property as we usually did. As we were asking the Lord for a way to bring something meaningful for the schools in Term 3.
We felt Father nudge us towards a day of prayer – with the intention of taking prayer to the community around the school and prayer drive and prayer walk our communities, ushering in the Presence of the Lord with worship! Also picking up heaven’s heart for the area we are praying in.
The year after that, we earmarked a time and extended it to a week!
In 2026, we embarked on our 7th National Prayer Week for Schools in South Africa.
Below is our Focus Slides (click on them to enlarge)! Our launch-out verse was Isaiah 45:8
