We trust that 2023 is going to be a great year. So many things are changing all the time, but the grace, love and compassion of our Lord God is always the same. May your year be a living testimony of His greatness and goodness whatever the circumstances.

If ever you may have been curious about what missionaries do when on holiday – hear is a peak into the lives of some of our missionaries during the past December holiday time.

Geoff and Caroline Shave (and their children) will soon be moving back to the UK after many years in Namibia and South Africa. We will be very sad to see them leave but, after what they did this past holiday they will surely also miss sunny South Africa.

They took the opportunity and went camping and hiking in the Cederberg. And then did a last trip around the Cape Peninsula before their son, Nathan, left to study in the UK.

May our Father bless your family in this new season
An Amazing Experience!

Elspeth Liebenberg, our former National Team Leader, did not have a photo to share but had an amazing experience. She shared: “A fun thing I did during this holiday was to swim in the sea at Tynemouth, UK, on New Year’s day with my daughter, Saskia, who lives there. The water temperature was 7° and the air temperature was 5° if I remember correctly. It is a New year’s tradition there. No wetsuits!” That sounds like a truly unique way to begin a new year, thanks for sharing Elspeth.

Gary and Cheryl had some fun time with their grandchildren, as always incredibly special moments.

They made gingerbread houses for Christmas with the grandkids.
On the 30th of December, Gary’s birthday, the family enjoyed a game of Padel

For those who were wondering, according to Google, Padel (also known as Padel Tennis) is: “… a Mexican racket sport typically played in doubles on an enclosed court slightly smaller than a doubles tennis court.”

Stefan and Marié Dell shared about their Christmas family tradition.
Every year, the Dells organize a Christmas party for our neighbours (52 homes) in our street. We go and deliver invitations by hand and then we open our home for the party. Between 30 and 40 people attend the party. This year it was exceptionally cold, but it did not stop us from sitting outside around the fire and chat for hours.”

What a wonderful legacy and testimony, definitely a hi-five to the Dell Family, at the moment they reside in the USA.
Nicholas and Pravani shared their creative planning to reach students in 2023.

They want to use social media and create Facebook posts to reach students. Here is more detail.

Content Creation planning! Let’s Go!

We divide up our year according to the academic quarters and our key goals of Win, Build and Send:

Quarter One:       Create content to Win hearts to Jesus but also Build into the faith of current believers,

Quarter Two:      Content that Builds current believers but also Trains (equips) them to reach others,

Quarter Three:    Content that Trains believers on how to reach others with the Gospel but also shows them the opportunities to go out and share their faith (to be Sent),

Quarter Four:      Content that shows believers opportunities to reach out (be Sent) but also creating content to reach out and Win the hearts of those who don’t know Jesus.

We would also like to thank everyone involved in this amazing ministry. Thank you for praying and giving in order to make this work possible in South Africa. For more information do visit our CCCSA website at https://cccsa.org.za/

In conclusion, here is a few wonderful verses from Paul’s letter to the Romans. I personalized it a little, may this words be a lovely comfort to you in 2023:

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose us to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen us, he called us to come to him. And having called us, he gave us right standing with himself. And having given us right standing, he gave us his glory – Romans 8:29-30.
